Company recalls all cases of its mushrooms in six states after listeria is found

Miami Herald - 3/10/2020

Mar. 10--All cases of Sun Hong Foods' Enoki Mushrooms in 7.05-ounce/200g packages have been recalled after the FDA told the company listeria was found in the product.

That's according to the company-written, FDA-posted recall notice. The notice says the state of Michigan found the listeria, but the Korean-made noodles were distributed only in Florida, Texas, California, Illinois, Washington and Oregon. Among the supermarkets that carry the mushrooms are Asian-themed stores J&L Supermarket, Jusgo Supermarket, ZTao Market, New Sang Supermarket and Galleria Market.

Consumers with the mushrooms should return them to the store of purchase for a refund. Those with questions should call 323-597-1112, Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Eastern time or Saturday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Eastern time.

Listeria hits about 1,600 Americans each year and kills 260, according to the CDC. Senior citizens and children under 5 get its worst effects. It can cause stillbirths and miscarriages in pregnant women. Most people suffer high fever, nausea, headaches, stomachaches and diarrhea.
